Do you hate seeing litter on the roadsides? A group called the Litter Loathers meets twice a year to clean the roadside between the gate and 202.

If you are community-minded and hate seeing our beautiful community messed up, join the Litter Loathers on May 12 at 9 a.m. They meet in the police station parking lot. Remember to wear gloves, a hat, bring water and picker-uppers if you have them.

May 12 is also the date for the Meet the Candidates meeting at the OTCC. Three candidates are applying for two positions on the Association Board. The candidates, in alphabetical order, are Dain Hurst, incumbent Butch Reyburn, and Adam Tiefenthaler. Come prepared with questions. Two seats are open. Guy Munday, whose seat will be open, decided not to re-run.

The BVSA is excited to announce that the Oak Branch Saloon opened April 23. Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. As before, the days of operation will be Wednesday through Sunday. By the time you read this, you may have already gone there for pizza. The bar hours will be extended as time goes by.

As far as the CSD is concerned, the installation of electrical generators continues. These generators supply electricity to maintain water pressure in auxiliary pressure tanks at certain locations in the water system. Water pressure to most houses in BVS is simple “gravity-feed” directly from the 41 reservoir tanks you see all over BVS, but some locations require auxiliary pressure tanks that need electricity to maintain pressure wherever gravity-feed from a reservoir tank is not sufficient.

If the electricity goes off, houses supplied by these pressure tanks lose water service almost immediately because the auxiliary pressure tanks have electrical air compressors that stop working when the electricity goes off. Fortunately, the generators are expected to all be installed by the end of June, which will hopefully be in time for any Public Safety Power Shut-Offs that take place.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To participate in the above events, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
