Stallion Springs held a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Tuesday, March 30 at the Community Center. CERT volunteers assisted in setting up appointments from March 22-26. 

There were 100 shots of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine available. The first shots were given to Stallion Springs residents then it was opened to all Tehachapi residents until the vaccines were gone.

Vaccines were made available through the new mobile unit from Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley headed up by Josh Pierce, Education and Training/Development.

A special thanks goes out to CSD General Manager Vanessa Stevens for coordinating this event on behalf of the community.

Police Department

Gary Crowell, Chief of Police of the Stallion Springs Police Department, is asking for the community's support for the "Be a 'Roll' Model," Bicycle Helmet safety campaign. The focus of this program is the safety and education of our youth in the community. Under California Law any child under the age of 18 must wear a helmet when riding or operating a bicycle, non-motorized scooter, electric motorized boards (hover boards), skateboards or inline skates. Wearing a bicycle helmet is about more than just obeying the law. It's also the best way to prevent serious and fatal head injuries. Every year nearly 2,000 children in California are sent to the emergency room with serious bicycle related injuries, almost a third of which are traumatic brain injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) studies have shown that wearing a helmet can reduce the odds of head injuries by more than 50 percent and the odds of injuries to the neck, face and head by 33 percent.

The Stallion Springs Police Department is in need of monetary donations for the purchase of bike helmets, a safety coupon incentive program and educational materials for our community. Donations can be made to the Support Stallion Springs Foundation, a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Your donations are 100 percent tax-deductible. CERT

Do you want to be able to help our community in a disaster/emergency? The Spring 2021 classes will prepare you to become a certified Community Emergency Response Team volunteer, or take the classes for self-enrichment.

Join us for an introduction to the Stallion Springs CERT organization and a demonstration of Go-Packs on Wednesday, May 5, 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stallion Springs Community Center, 27850 Stallion Springs Dr.

Classes are scheduled for Saturdays May 8, 15 and 22 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There is no cost to participate in the class.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. normally in the CSD Boardroom. The next meeting will be held April 20 at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board room at the Community Center or Zoom subject to the restrictions created by the Coronavirus.
