Dream Center to re-open at full capacity on April 12

The Kern County Network for Child’s Dream Center, a one stop resource center for current/former foster youth and unaccompanied youth, is excited to announce the center will be open at full capacity with its full menu of services beginning Monday, April 12 at 8 a.m.
The Dream Center is a safe place for foster youth, emancipated youth and unaccompanied youth up to age 25 to receive social and educational services, get help with meeting their basic needs and gain respite if they do not have a safe and stable living environment.
Located in Bakersfield at 1801 19th Street, the Dream Center provides current/former foster youth and unaccompanied youth with services that include: counseling, substance abuse treatment, employment services, assistance with college/vocational school enrollment, educational support and advocacy, CalFresh and MediCal, extended foster care and independent living skills training, housing assistance, support, information and referral, and advocacy. Emergency need items such as food, clothing, hygiene items, bus passes and household items, made possible through community donations, are also available. Youth may also use the Center’s computer lab, internet, showers, laundry, phone, copier, fax and mailing address.
Community members who would like to donate gently used adult-sized clothing, shoes, household items, baby items, clothing sizes infant to 4T, hygiene or emergency food items, can drop items off at 1807 19th Street, Bakersfield.
The KCNC Dream Center is open for youth and donors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
