Just a few months ago, my family and I made the exciting decision to welcome a new four-legged German Shepherd baby into our lives.

It had been several years since a puppy has been in our house. She quickly snapped me back into new puppy mode, I mentally prepared for all the chaos sure to ensue and of course also all the love and puppy snuggles.

To those reading, if you are thinking of embarking on the same journey or if you have already welcomed your new pup. I offer you a few tips and a list of essentials to make navigating puppyhood just a little bit easier. Bringing home a new puppy can be stressful at times especially if you have other dogs in the home. Lots of patience is a key element; everyone needs time to warm up.

Give the puppy its own personal space to call its own. I would suggest a crate with a super soft comfy bed in a quiet place in the house. It can make that location its safe space and feel more comfortable.

Finding a good dewormer is also a very good idea as puppies tend to get worms very easily so early worming is super helpful.

Lastly, the fun things are finding the perfect color collar and leash, name tag, super fun squeaky toys and of course lots and lots of treats! Nutrition is always a thing to consider. Your puppy is going to grow fast and will need a well balanced and nutritious diet. Luckily all of these items and much more can be found at Canine Creek! Be sure to bring your new puppy in and say hello!

Canine Creek is located at 798 Tucker Rd., Ste. 5, Tehachapi. Feel free to call the store with any questions you may have at (661) 822-0307.
