Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District (TVRPD) is pursuing a grant opportunity that will hopefully bring a new park and community center to Tehachapi. Funds are available through the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.

From October 2020 -January 2021, TVRPD gathered and received input and engagement from the community by hosting public meetings for desired recreation features and new program offerings. TVRPD is excited to unveil the conceptual design for the project. Located at the corner of Cherry Lane and Tucker Road, this 2.2-acre vacant lot will aim to bring a new park and community center. The park will have a playground, open green space, multiple courtyards, and an elevated performance stage area. The recreation building will have a single high-school regulation size basketball court with different painted lines to also offer volleyball and pickleball. The building will also have a large community room to house community classes and meetings.

The grant application was submitted March 11. Grant awards are slated to be announced late summer 2021 with an estimated project completion date of March 2025.
