With the Supreme Court decision on February 5 to open California churches to inside services, St. Jude’s in the Mountains Anglican Church, located at 1200 South Curry, Tehachapi, is holding Ash Wednesday services on February 17 at noon and 7 p.m. with distribution of ashes. On “Fat Tuesday” or “Shrove Tuesday,” February 16, St. Jude’s is sponsoring a free all-you-can-eat pancake supper from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church. The church building will accommodate 40 people, respecting COVID-19 guidelines. To-go boxes are available for those who do not want to stay and eat in person. The suggested donation for the meal is $5 but, again, the pancake supper is free.
Lenten Services remain the same as in the previous few months, Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. and prayer service Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. During the season of Lent, a soup supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. before the Wednesday prayer service. Parishioners take turns supplying the soups. A video series of “The Chosen” will accompany each supper and service.
