The Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company, established in 2000, is the first vineyard and winery to serve the "Tehachapi Mountains" AVA region label.

After much research it was decided to plant our vineyards with the Primitivo wine grape, originating from Southern Italy. In the early 19th Century, Primitivo was introduced to the United States under the name Zinfandel. With much care and passion to the vineyard, the first ever wines were produced in the Tehachapi Mountains. Soon thereafter, our wines were receiving award winning accolades at various International Wine competitions. Fast forward to the year 2021: after receiving the American Viticultural Area (AVA) designation of "Tehachapi Mountains" (effective December 21, 2020), our wine growing region is official and will be forever recognized as the Tehachapi Mountains. The Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company is proud to present the first ever bottling with the Tehachapi Mountains designation on our 2017 Proprietor's Reserve Primitivo. This full-bodied red wine is a compliment to any meal. It especially pairs well with beef, pork and chocolates.
