2020 was a difficult year for many. I know I do not need to elaborate, I am sure we have all had struggles. There is one great thing that came out of 2020 though, and that is how many pets were adopted!

Pet owning households grew by almost four percent last year. That may not sound like much but that equates to more than 71 million pets having their forever homes by the end of last year. Dogs tend to be the big focus when considering adopting, but cats currently reside in over 30 million homes. Their self-sufficient dignity and low maintenance care (of most) make them especially appealing. Cats, as a whole, do not seem to need quite as much attention as dogs. Just take a moment when you come into Canine Creek; the cat section is definitely smaller. Kind of like the men’s section at a department store. Whereas the dog section takes over the majority of the store… similar to the women’s floor in a department store. Not that cats (or men) are loved any less. They just do not seem to need/want as many items.

Having said that, the cat section may seem smaller, but there are still some super fun things you can do for your kitty to make their lives a little more exciting.

• Food – we have premium foods to help your kittycat thrive. We have some dry samples you can take home and see what they think, and if you want to try wet food, anytime you purchase food for your pet in our store – if they do not like it, you are welcome to return it. We do not want you keeping something your kitty won’t eat.

• Toys – we have all their favorites. Crinkle, feathers, teasers and catnip just to name a few. We have some catnip right now that is getting some amazing reviews from our happy cat customers.

• Cat trees – kitties love to climb!

• Pet carriers – whether you are traveling far or just down the street

• Supplements - sometimes your cat may need a little extra something to help them feel their best

• Litter and litter boxes – yep…. If you have a cat you most certainly need this

• Groomers – our groomers groom cats (just call for an appointment)
