Business Winner: Chosen by Mayor Susan Wiggins, the Tehachapi Business winner is KM Payton Trucking, at 118 South Robinson Street. "I learned [to judge lights] from my mother who used to come up here her whole life to judge," said Mayor Susan Wiggins. "I'm just flabergasted by how many homes participated. I think it's wonderful and I hope it contues in years to come."

The City of Tehachapi and The Loop newspaper have collaborated to sponsor a holiday decorating contest for both homes in Tehachapi communities including Stallion Springs, Bear Valley Springs and Golden Hills, as well as businesses within the city limits.

District 1: Councilmember Phillip Smith chose Andrew Cortez and Nancy Valle's home at 219 N. Green Street.

After much consideration by the judges, here are the winners of the Holiday Light Contest. Since all of the lights were so fantastic, the judges really struggled to pick the winners. Some of them went out to look at the lights two or three times before making their decision. The contestants were very competitive and the judges all said that it was obvious a lot of thought went into designing the displays. Many included homemade elements while others went for the "wow" factor making the decisions even harder. Congratulations to all the winners!

The Christmas Light Bingo bags are available while supplies last at The Loop newspaper, 206 South Green Street and Tehachapi City Hall, 115 South Robinson Street. The Loop's holiday hours are Dec. 21 through Dec. 30, Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon.

Be sure to visit participating business and residential displays, addresses listed below (scroll down).
