Moving Forward Enterprises LLC

December 5, 2020

The main focus of Moving Forward Enterprises LLC is to empower the East Kern community members in a positive direction. There is a high population of homeless in these areas as well as high populations of parolees and probationers. Some individuals are both which can lead to monitoring and compliance issues. Moving Forward Enterprises is trying to fill the gap by aiding the monitoring and compliance agencies. Our goal is to provide assistance for individuals recently released from incarceration as well as employment reentry for general population community members and veterans.

The community empowerment course is a four week course with a certificate upon completion spotlighting employment readiness skills, resumes and interviewing techniques. Moving Forward Enterprises also runs a 12 week course for parolees and probationers that highlights the above-mentioned skills but the organization also focus on life change, positive thinking, thinking before you act and much more. This is a life skills reentry course assisting individuals in remaining in compliance with parole and probation requirements. There is a certificate of completion provided and we are trying to set up the participants with interview attire opportunities, as well. We are just getting started but many collaborations will come in to fruition as we grow.

Moving Forward Enterprises sets the highest standards of services provided to enable personal growth, a foundation of development for long term life recovery, and improving the quality of life of their participants to support individuals in their journey to become productive members of society. We have a computer lab, employment opportunity board updated weekly, and job readiness training for any and all members of the community. The purpose is to provide a structured and stable environment for the reentry populations of southern Kern County. There are also referral services for homeless individuals, veterans and individuals seeking recovery from addiction. We service all community members in need with services and/or referrals. We collaborate with the Kern County Sheriff Department, Kern County Parole and Probation Departments and all monitoring agencies to allow the program participants the greatest chances to succeed. We also collaborate with capK (the Community Action Partnership of Kern) and the East Kern Family Resource Center of Mojave/Kern as well as the Salvation Army and other community organizations.

A Grand Opening was scheduled for Friday, December 4, but it was canceled due to increased Covid restrictions. Courses will begin although they may be held via Zoom or in a smaller group ratio of six per group in person. Moving Forward Enterprises will also provide referrals for any services a participant needs in order to move forward in a positive, purposeful manner. We work with 211 Kern County and if they can’t help we will find who can!

I was able to be a part of an awesome organization, Paving The Way Foundation in Lancaster, where we were spotlighted a couple of times for community service events such as job fairs and community resource fairs. I look forward to bringing that to our eastern Kern communities! Please visit the website at movingforwardenterprises.net and complete an inquiry form and someone will contact you regarding your service request. We are located in the old Salvation Army space on 15662 K St., Mojave, California. Operation hours are Monday- Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also call during those hours to set up an appointment at (661) 584-9143.

Moving Forward Enterprises is in the process of being authorized to provide court ordered Parenting Courses as well as Anger Management Courses for adults and juveniles over the age of 12. A rotation of classes should commence in January. Further information will be posted on the website.
