The Address.

At a live meeting on October 26 at Aspen Builders, the Tehachapi Planning Commission gave tentative approval to the Final Master Development Plan for The Address, a 238 unit housing development to be build on the northeast corner of Highline Rd. and Tucker Rd.

The two-story homes, which will range from 2,600 to 3,000 square feet, will all be modern in style, have flat roofs and second story decks to allow every home a view of the mountains. Garages are pushed back so as not to be a dominant feature. There will be an entrance from Tucker and an entrance from Highline. A two-acre park is planned for the center of the development. The original concept presented to the Commission in September 2019 was given preliminary approval to continue on with the development of the master plan. The final plan is for the development to be built in ten phases. Each phase must stand alone and one half of the park and the clubhouse would be completed as part of Phase I. Although not shown in drawings, there will be a perimeter wall surrounding the development. The community was originally presented as a gated community but as such would be required to maintain its roads. Now as an open community, road maintenance falls to the City of Tehachapi.

Concerns were voiced by Commissioner Kim Nixon who thought the design was more suitable to the desert. She also voiced concerns about the flat roofs and snowload as did Commissioner Linda Hollingsworth. In a four to one vote, the commission voted to send The Address to the Tehachapi City Council for final approval with Commissioner Nixon being the one dissenting vote.

The Tehachapi Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m., and is currently meeting online at http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh0HOSFazMT27ynDXhkUQ0A.
