Beginning in October, Oak Tree Art and Antiques will be featuring the art of longtime Tehachapi resident Helen McAllister.

McAllister and her husband moved to Tehachapi in 1990 from Los Angeles where Helen worked as a behaviorist with the L.A. County schools. She has a degree in art from Cal State University.

Soon after moving to Tehachapi, McAllister began doing paintings of the Tehachapi Depot and a winter snow street scene highlighting Kelcy's Restaurant. These two paintings, plus others, became the focus for Christmas cards and were sold at the old Apple Shed. McAllister is now featuring these paintings as prints at Oak Tree Art and Antiques, 102 W. Tehachapi Blvd.

So, come on into the store, take a look and enjoy a nostalgic visit to Tehachapi's more recent past. They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
