New SUP or SOAR fundraiser

Rotary Club of Tehachapi

September 26, 2020

On Thursday, September 17 at Farmers Market, the Tehachapi Rotary Club Pick-A-Ticket Fundraiser came to an end with the drawing of six tickets for the lucky winners. All six winners were very excited about the prizes they won. However, now that the Farmers Market has been extended through October, the club has the opportunity to hold another fundraiser.

If you are good at guessing how many pennies are in a jar (or not), “SUP or SOAR” is for you. This time two prizes are “up for grabs”: $150 in gift certificates for local restaurants or a glider ride at Mountain Valley Airport. Guesses are $5 each or 5 guesses for $20. The winner will be notified on October 23.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for Rotary service projects in our Tehachapi community. Some of the projects include scholarships for local outstanding high school graduates, personalized books for all kindergarten students, middle school scholastic improvement awards, coats for local kids and delivery support for Meals-on-Wheels.

Come on out and enjoy the Farmers Market on October 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 3 to 6 p.m. and stop by the Rotary booth to guess how many pennies are in the jar.

The Rotary Club of Tehachapi is a volunteer service organization with the motto “Service Above Self.” The club has 30 members who are currently meeting virtually on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. If you would like more information about Rotary Club, you can visit their Facebook page (search for RotaryClubofTehachapi), or contact local club President Chris Naftel at (661) 221-2137.
