Celebration of Life

August 29, 2020

Jim Cheek, 61, of Tehachapi, California, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2020 in Fresno, California. He was born on November 5, 1958 in Compton, California to Ewing and Theresa Cheek.

A career construction worker, Jim could do it all. He was a welder, electrician and plumber, but most of all, he was a builder. Over the years, Jim worked for Magnum Enterprise and Aspen Builders.

Jim loved the outdoors. His family endearingly remembers him as a true “mountain man.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed attending classic car shows, cooking with cast iron skillets, and sharing his delicious creations with others.

He is survived by his daughter, Allison Cheek; sisters, Diana Lee Ray and Donna Marie Cheek; and many dear coworkers and friends.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wood Family Funeral Service in Tehachapi. The family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wood Family Funeral Service, 321 W. F St., Tehachapi. Wood Family Funeral Service requires that all guests in attendance wear face masks/coverings. Condolences can be made online at http://www.woodmortuary.net.
