Eight charges of embezzlement by a public officer filed by Kern DA office

June 20, 2020

The Kern County District Attorney’s office has filed charges consisting of eight counts of embezzlement by a public officer against former Bear Valley Community Services District General Manager David Edmonds.

The matter was investigated by the District, and the charges allege that Edmonds had, on multiple occasions, returned office supplies and equipment purchased on a District credit card. Instead of crediting the returns back to the District’s account, the charges allege that Edmonds obtained gift cards (valued at approximately $5,000), which he used to purchase items for his personal use. The District provided all investigative materials to the Kern County District Attorney’s office.

The Bear Valley Community Services District fully supports the actions of the Kern County District Attorney’s office in the filing of these charges.

Edmonds served as the District’s General Manager from July 2014 to June 2018.
