The American Legion Auxiliary Tehachapi Unit 221 has been giving out scholarships to Tehachapi High School and Monroe students for many years.

This year, with the help of the Community Charitable Auction, the Auxiliary was able to present four scholarships. Tehachapi seniors honored were Matthew Bilotta, Rachel Miller, Irey Sandholt and Brandon Self.

Each of these young people has spent countless hours volunteering in the community and in school. They have each been active in sports and/or church activities. These graduates plan to go into physics, nursing and aerospace engineering.

Matthew was one of the 2019 delegates to Boys State sponsored by the American Legion Post 221 and Irey was the 2019 delegate to Girls State sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 221.

We are proud of these young people and the Auxiliary is glad to be able to help them pursue their goals.
