Planning Commission Update

April 25, 2020

At the April 13 telephonic Planning Commission meeting, the commissioners voted unanimously to give the Sage Ranch development an additional six months to complete their Environmental Impact Report and submit a Final Master Development Plan. The Sage Ranch project is a multi-unit planned community encompassing 138 acres to be located south of Valley Blvd. and west of Tehachapi High School.

The Preliminary Development Plan for Sage Ranch was originally approved by the Planning Commission on Feb. 11, 2019 with the Environmental Impact Report due in six months. The EIR was extended another six months on Aug. 12, 2019. In February 2020, Sage Ranch requested another six month extension as the EIR was not yet complete; however, the Planning Commission did not meet again until April 13. The EIR was available for public review on the City website in February with the comment period ending April 20. Development Services Director Jay Schlosser said it was the City’s responsibility for the completion of the report and they had run into complications. As they could not fault the developer, approval of the extension was recommended.

Per the State of California Executive Order N-29-20, this meeting was held telephonically. Planning Commission meetings may be observed (or heard) online at http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh0HOSFazMT27ynDXhkUQ0A.
