TCT's COVID-19 statement

Tehachapi Community Theatre Spotlight

April 25, 2020

For over 50 years, Tehachapi Community Theatre has been here to provide our community with quality live theater and to contribute to the health and vibrancy of Downtown Tehachapi through the operation of the historic BeeKay Theatre. As we are all aware, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is changing how we live, work and serve each other. In these last weeks, we have made decisions which we will use as a roadmap to life after these unprecedented times. We would like to share these with you.

Working Remotely: On March 10, the cast members of the next production “Nunsense” began rehearsing at home, cancelling onstage rehearsals and transitioning to virtual meetings as recommended by local, state and federal public health officials.

Member-Related Events: In compliance with the Governor’s stay at home order, we have converted several monthly association events to virtual operations and will be postponing or cancelling other in-person events. Like many of you, we are disappointed that these community events will not continue as planned.

Enhanced Cleaning and Preventive Hygiene: Since it opened in December of 2008 the BeeKay Theatre has always been professionally cleaned prior to every show. However, in light of the recent events, TCT will be conducting more frequent cleaning in common areas and on commonly touched surfaces.

Looking Ahead: The entire TCT family is indebted to and inspired by the humanity and determination we have seen from our community. There is an often-quoted adage that describes how “Theatre People” view dealing with adversity. It simply goes, “The Show Must Go On.” That’s always how TCT has chosen to meet the big challenges. And it’s how we will rise to meet this one, too.

Stay safe, stay healthy and we will welcome you back soon.
