At the March 17 Board meeting the Stallion Springs Board of Directors named Vanessa Stevens as acting general manager for the District. Interim General Manager, David Aranda, submitted his two weeks notice of resignation on Feb. 28 to the president of the Board. The Board held a Special Board Meeting and in a closed session on March 5, accepting his resignation.

The Board had been looking for a new general manager for over a year. After failure to find a qualified candidate the Board requested that Vanessa Stevens become the acting general manager. Stevens will have the full responsibilities of the general manager.

She has been the Parks and Recreation Manager for several years and has assisted Aranda with administrative matters during that time. She also has served as Board secretary for several years.

The Board also approved a contract with BHI Management Consulting to provide management consulting services to the District. Aranda will be the sole consultant to the District for BHI through Sept. 18.

CSD offices closed

The CSD offices will be closed to the public. Staff will still be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. to take your phone calls or emails. Call (661) 822-3268 for any assistance. The Community Center, Library and all park restrooms will be closed until further notice.

Stallion Springs General Store

The store will remain open during this time to best serve our community. Customers will be limited to no more than 10 inside the store at any time. It is requested that children remain at home or in their vehicles while visiting the store. Customers must stand at least six feet apart while in line. Some purchases will be limited due to availability. If you are elderly or you prefer not to come into the store for health reasons, contact us at (661) 822-6371, we will do what we can to accommodate you.

Police Report

Police Chief Gary Crowell filed a report of statistics for February. The department had 11 arrests, issued eight citations, had 128 reports, 115 calls for service, completed 22 officer initiated investigations, 16 field interviews and did two medical assists. There were 23 vacation house checks, and the department assisted other law enforcement agencies 27 times.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board room. The next meeting is scheduled for April 21.
