January 4, 2020
The BVS Community Services District held its last meeting of 2019 on Thursday, Dec. 12. One of the agenda items was to elect the officers of the Board for 2020.
Director Terry Quinn nominated Director Steve Roberts for president. He was elected with a majority of 3-2, with directors Baron and Hahn opposing. Director Quinn, a recent appointee, was nominated as vice president with a majority of 4-1 with Director Baron opposing. President Roberts took over the proceedings from there. Another important item was the renewal of General Manager Malinen’s employment agreement. Malinen has been with us for a year now and much has been accomplished during that time. The Board was unanimous in their plaudits. And finally, the Board discussed hitting up SCE for the cost of generators to keep the water flowing during their future planned shut-downs.
The BVS Sportsman’s Club recently held their annual Toys for Tehachapi Children event. Aside from all the toys donated, over $1,400 in cash was donated. The toys were picked up by the Firefighters of BVS and they will be forwarded to the Knights of Columbus for distribution. The Sportsman’s Club has been the most generous donor of toys for this event the past several years.
The Oak Tree Men’s Golf Club is having an away trip on Jan. 23 and the Women’s Golf Club recently elected a new Board of Directors. Diane Griffin is the incoming president for 2020, with DeDe Potvin as tournament chair, Linda Cross is in charge of playdays, Lee Kapka as treasurer, Donna Zanutto as handicap chair, Eva Lance as secretary and Meg Prior as SCGA delegate.
Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which residents pay an annual Association amenities fee. To participate in the above events, a non-member or a non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
