A hummingbird is not letting a bit of snow cause him to miss dinner.
Stallion Springs had a bit of snow over the Thanksgiving holiday, 4 to 6 inches in some locations. It was beautiful and enough to have the CSD maintenance staff out with the plows clearing the roads. You could smell the scent of woodburning fireplaces in the air.
Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa will be on Dec. 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Corral room in the Community Center. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and your choice of hot chocolate or coffee. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child over 2 years old. Families with more than five members will pay a maximum of $25. The cost includes activities for kids.
Holiday Boutique
While the kids are having Breakfast with Santa, get your last minute Holiday shopping done at the Holiday Boutique, sponsored by the Stallion Springs Parks Department in the gym at the Community Center Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Jamison Children's Center Christmas
Jamison Children's Center is accepting gifts for children in their care. Some of the items they are looking for include: sports balls, remote control cars, Elmer's glitter and glue and other toys for 6 to 17 year olds, new clothes child size 6X through adult XXL, and zip-up hooded sweatshirts, child size small through adult 3XXX. A complete list of items requested by the children and a facility wish list are available in The Bridge on the CSD website at http://www.stallionspringscsd.com or contact the CSD. The gifts can be dropped off at the CSD by Dec. 13.
CERT
The Stallion Springs CERT team is preparing a CERT Basic Training Class for Spring 2020. The class will be in March at the Community Center. CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Sign up at StallionSpringscert1@gmail.com or call (661) 412-CERT.
Parks and Recreation
Monthly Exercise Passes are available to residents for $30 and non-residents for $40. Get the monthly pass and you can take any or all exercise classes or try a single class for just $5 for residents or $7 for non-residents.
Free Pickleball in the gymnasium Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. All levels are welcome, come join in the fun.
Police Report
If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
For non-life-threatening issues, please call (661) 861-3110. You may contact us by email or using the contact information provided on the CSD website, http://www.stallionspringscsd.com. If you wish to make an appointment to speak with an Officer contact the CSD at (661) 822-3268. Appointments maybe cancelled at any time due to limited police staffing.
Stallion Springs Board of Directors
The Board has cancelled the December meeting due to the Holiday. The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board room. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2020.
