California City Basketball, Inc. names Scholarship Program in memory of James and Anna Roberts

A scholarship program has been created in memory of James and Anna Roberts, long time residents of California City and youth sports sponsors and supporters.
The James and Anna Roberts Scholarship Program will give two $500 scholarships each year to the top male and female high school senior student-athlete. GPA, sports ability and community service will be the matrix used to select the recipients.
Each candidate will submit an essay outlining their scholastic, athletic and community service contributions, as well as their goals for post secondary education.
Each applicant’s essay will be reviewed by the board of directors of California City Basketball, Inc., the top two essays will be chosen for the scholarship and presented at an awards ceremony each May. In the event of a tie the CEO/Founder will decide the winning candidates.
California City Basketball Inc., is a nonprofit organization designed to support youth through young adults as they aspire toward academic and athletic success. The first donations toward this scholarship program came from Sadia and Burley Patterson of Gilbert, Ariz. Sadia Patterson is the youngest and remaining sister of Anna Roberts. Our General Fund account gives $250-$400 grants to sports coaches seeking funds to elevate their program to the next level. Or indicate you would like your donation to go to the James and Anna Roberts Scholarship Program for the reasons listed above.
