Flag raising ceremony at the Tehachapi Veterans Day celebration in 2018 at Central Park.

American Legion Post 221, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 221, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Riders Chapter 221 of Tehachapi will host ceremonies in Philip Marx Central Park on Monday, Nov. 11. The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. with a flag raising, guest speakers and a performance by the Tehachapi High School Choir.

TVRPD has planned a fun family afternoon following the ceremonies. They will host a kids bootcamp obstacle course for ages 3 to 10. The military-style course will include ladder runs, tunnels and push ups. A rock wall will be available for ages 7 and up. The kids will all receive dog tags when they complete the course. Local veterans will be on hand to assist the kids in reaching their goals.

There will be booths from all branches of the military and a display of military vehicles from Edwards Air Force Base. A canned food drive for our local Salvation Army is also planned.

The Butcher Shop will be selling food at the park for families. There will be a FREE lunch for veterans at the Vets Hall, 125 E. F St. and FREE health screenings from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Central Park from Adventist Health.

Help us honor our veterans with this great family event!
