The City of Tehachapi is collaborating with the Tehachapi Valley Arts Association on a series of mini murals throughout the downtown area. The project will take city owned utility boxes and turn them into art pieces to go along with the full size wall murals in the downtown area.

"When the idea came across my desk, I said yes, absolutely," said Greg Garrett Tehachapi City Manager. "These local artists are passionate and the renderings of their vision will add to our beautiful downtown corridor."

Local Tehachapi artists Tina Dille and Michelle Miller are donating their time and supplies to bring the project to light. The first two utility boxes receiving special Tehachapi inspired murals are located on Tehachapi Blvd. and Green Street and on Tehachapi Blvd. in Railroad Park.

Tehachapi has a series of eight large historical murals that are part of the downtown walking tour. The walking tour map can be found online at http://www.tehachapimuseum.org/walking-tour-murals/tehachapi-historical-murals.

The two local artists will be working on the project for the next week or so at various times and will make themselves available for any media member wishing to share the story.

If you would like to interview the artists and catch them while they are working contact Key Budge (661) 822-2200 ext. 119 for the artists contact information.
