Adventist Health offers support to Hospital Guild

October 26, 2019

On Aug. 7 the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District sent a letter to the Guild of Tehachapi Hospital stating that as the Guild was now raising funds for the new hospital operated by Adventist Health, they would no longer be able to rent them the building located at the corner of Green and F Streets for $1 per month. It was suggested that they could pay rent through Adventist Health. In an Oct. 7 letter to Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District, Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley President Jeff Lingerfelt said that Adventist Health had talked with the Guild, had considered their proposal, and would like to “take you up on your suggestion” to pay the rent for the Guild at a fair market value.

Although they had yet to sit down with TVHD, Lingerfelt said that the Guild “has supported the hospital for 45 years including the new hospital and plays a vital role in the community by supplying goods and clothing to those unable to shop elsewhere. It is centrally located and we would hate to see it disappear. It is consistent with the mission of Adventist to be living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.”

Tehachapi Healthcare District General Manager Carolyn Wasielewski said that they are “excited and happy that the Guild is raising money for the hospital.” She added that TVHD expects to talk with Adventist soon regarding a fair market price for the Guild building.
