Overcoming poverty is the topic at the next meeting of American Association of University Women. It will be held at Tehachapi Community Church Friendship Hall, 100 E. Green St., on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Kathline Moessner, the keynote speaker, will talk about the work of the Community Action Partnership of Kern. She is a Senior Community Development Specialist for the organization. She says, “I have had the opportunity to see people make incredible life changes despite overwhelming barriers and I am honored to work for an agency that is dedicated to helping people rise out of poverty.”

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. Men or women, with a two-year or higher degree, are invited to join at this meeting with a reduction of $25 from the usual $99 dues.
