Residential burglary arrest

On Aug. 26 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers with the Tehachapi Police Department received a report of a possible residential burglary in the 500 block of Mesquite Drive in the City of Tehachapi. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that suspects had forced entry into the home, ransacked portions of the home and stole several items from inside the home.

From surveillance footage obtained from various Ring Video Systems throughout the neighborhood, officers quickly identified the possible suspects and the vehicle believed to be used in the commission of the crime. Officers located the suspect vehicle at a residence in the city of Tehachapi and were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and arrest warrants for two suspects.

With the assistance from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, Officers from the Tehachapi Police Department executed the search and arrest warrants at a residence located in the 100 Block of North Mojave Street. During the search, officers recovered items which had been stolen from the residence on Mesquite.

The suspects were identified as Lauren Patrick, 32, of Tehachapi, Sterlyn Smith, 45, of Adelanto and Travionn Jones, 37, of Adelanto. The suspects were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for charges of residential burglary and other weapons related charges. Jones was found to be on active parole for a primary offense of 2nd Degree Murder and Patrick was found to be a previously convicted felon.
