Tables will be set for the annual Basque Dinner at the Errea House Museum on Aug. 24.

On Aug. 24, dine outdoors in front of the historic Errea House and enjoy an authentic Basque dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Begin with a glass of Picon punch, a typical Basque drink accompanied by Basque style tapas as part of the four course meal, finishing with a slice of Gateau Basque. This is a rare opportunity to experience authentic Basque food in Tehachapi and to help fund the renovation and exhibits at the Errea House Museum.

The dinner is a fundraiser for the Errea House Museum, where the Errea family lived from about 1917. The Erreas came to Tehachapi in 1906 from Spain and were part of the large Spanish and French Basque community in the Tehachapi area. They were well-known and well-liked. They moved to the Errea House in about 1917, a house that was moved about 4 and a half miles from old town in about 1900. The original 1870s three-room house was moved on log rollers pulled by mules. The Errea House will be open for tours during the dinner.

Reservations are available at the Tehachapi Museum. The cost is $50 and reservations are required. Your reservation is not guaranteed until payment is made. Call (661) 972-0958 and leave a message and your call will be returned or visit the Museum at 310 S. Green St. during regular hours of noon to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to make a reservation. Seating is limited and always sells out early.
