The 22nd Annual Thunder on the Mountain Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be held Sunday, Aug. 18 in Historic Downtown Tehachapi.

Early in the morning, as the sun rises, "Car Guys and Gals" start lining up at the corner of Tehachapi Blvd. and Robinson St. at 6 a.m. Car Show Committee members will be admitting participants and directing the vehicles to the parking areas. The show officially opens at 9 a.m. Master of Ceremonies Patrick Donohue will welcome participants and spectators, and the American Flag is presented by the veterans of Foreign Wars. The show continues until 3 p.m., with the band Mudfish entertaining until 2 p.m.

This year's show features some new classes: "Not Forgotten", "Rat Rods" and five classes of motorcycles, Asian, European and American bikes.

Large and small drawing tickets will be on sale throughout the show in Centennial Plaza, as will the always popular 50/50 drawing tickets. Large prizes include $1,000 cash, a $500 Albertsons gift certificate, custom painted and pinstriped pedal car ($500 value), an original oil painting ($335 value), decorative outdoor fountain ($300 value) and more. Small prizes include gift baskets and certificates for merchandise, meals and more from local businesses. These will be drawn throughout the day in Centennial Plaza during the show.

There will be an information booth at the corner of F and Green Streets. This will also be the location of the Trophy Presentations, followed by the large drawing prize tickets and 50/50 drawing. Large prize winners need not be present.

An exciting and entertaining tradition takes place at High Noon when the MC announces "start your engines" and 300 plus high performance, race cars, hot rods, street rods and motorcycles "rev 'em up" and send "Thunder on the Mountain" echoing throughout the downtown area.
