Wind energy is the topic of this year's One Book One Kern with the choice of "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" by William Kamkwamba.

Our local Cheers to Charity, the Tehachapi Wine, Craft Beer and Food Festival on Aug. 10 at Aviator Park, is only a few weeks away and this year the Tehachapi Friends of the Library will be one of the charities helped by the event. This one time donation will allow the Friends of the Library the opportunity to help the library in new ways.

One example is this falls's One Book One Kern project is going to look at "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" by William Kamkwamba, and we here in Tehachapi are particularly well-suited to events concerning wind energy.

Friends of the Library will be helping Cheers to Charity by selling tickets for the event. So if you're considering going to Cheers to Charity and you still haven't bought your tickets, here's what you can do:

1. Stop by the library on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and buy your tickets at the special table set up on the first floor.

2. If that doesn't work for you, then contact the Friends of the Library by email at FOLTehachapi@gmail.com or call or text (661) 750-2818. Arrangements will be made to fit your schedule.

General Admission tickets are $70 and VIP tickets are $125.

And don't forget the Friends of the Library is accepting book (or money) donations and is always looking for more people to volunteer with the group. Your help is making the Tehachapi Library an important part of our community.
