Third Annual Valley Fever Walk, June 29

June 22, 2019

The A.V. Valley Fever Alliance, in collaboration with Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Antelope Valley Resource Conservation District and Partners for Resource Conservation, announces its Third Annual Valley Fever Walk on Saturday, June 29, at Apollo Park, 4555 W. Ave. G, near Fox Airfield in Lancaster. Event registration begins at 7:15 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m., emceed by Fifth District Senior Field Deputy Donna Termeer, and continues with the walk, activities and entertainment until noon. The public is invited to attend this free family and dog-friendly event. We also invite survivors of Valley Fever and their supporters to attend and share their experiences with others.

We will provide free information on Valley Fever, including materials for children, and those registering will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes, including those for pets. We will have “Talk to the Doc,” with Kaiser Permanente’s Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Jonathan Troung, and his team. Our State Senator Scott Wilk’s Field Representative Donna Hill will hold office hours. We will have dance entertainment with Mom’s House Royal Movers, and the Just Dance Studio Dancers. We will have kids’ games, including The Chess Lady, face painting and DJ Krazy K will provide music. Vendors will also be present to share health information. Free bottled water will be available.

The A.V. Valley Fever Alliance chooses this opportunity to foster awareness of this fungal disease endemic to our valley. It is our goal to provide education to both the public and professional alike regarding this under-reported illness.
