Local Congregation holds special Summer Services

June 22, 2019

Members of the Tehachapi Community Church - United Church in Christ have devised a set of special services led by congregation members and local community leaders for June through August as our pastor, Reverend Nancy Bacon, takes a sabbatical. Our services take place Sundays at 10:30 a.m., 100 East E Street, Tehachapi and all are welcome.

TCC continues the rest of June and through mid-July with a series of guests. On June 23, a member of the Mountain Spirit Zen Center will speak on “Buddhism,” with a Mission moment from the Bakersfield UCC. On June 30, we will have a guest speaking on the Sikh faith. On July 7, a member of TCC’s Environmental Ministry will discuss a “Pacific Crest Trail Pilgrimage.” A guest will also speak to us July 14 on the practice of meditation.

TCC will dedicate the third and fourth Sundays in July to environmental topics. On July 21, congregation members will present “Weird Church - Love of Creation” in Friendship Hall with food, music, and a fun family activity on the environment. On July 28, Fresno air quality advocate Kevin Hall will speak on “Environmental Justice.” Mr. Hall will then join us after the service in Friendship Hall for questions and to meet with TCC’s Faith in Kern ministry on grassroots responses to poor air quality.

Local ministers will lead services in early August, and TCC will hold its annual Four Island Lake service and picnic in Bear Valley Springs on August 18.

“No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”
