After delaying the Apple Crate Derby Race for a week due to the weather, the Stallion Springs Police Activities League held the running of the semiannual Derby Race on Saturday, June 1.

Stallion Springs Senior Police Officer Jimmy Best directed the event. Twenty seven drivers entered the race. Prizes were awarded based on best times for the trip down the course. One of the heats had times with only .01 seconds between the cars. There was of course the required delay due to Deer crossing the track. Lilly Williams came in first followed by Jersey Jimenez second and Logan Zimmer a close third. The next race will be held in November. Exact date to be announced.

Caring about the community

Community Service District General Manager David Aranda notes that he has received emails that state how appalled residents are in regard to the condition of Stallion. Some recommendations for every resident are: See that your property is neat and clean, free of non-working vehicles, fifth wheels and that trailers are stored properly. People can not be living in trailers or fifth wheels unless the property is under construction. Only household pets that are in our CC&Rs are allowed on designated properties. A violation by your neighbor may be due to a lack of knowledge of the CC&Rs. Speak to your neighbor and see if they will clear up the problem. If the problem persists, send a letter or email with the address of the violation. Please familiarize yourself with the Districts CC&Rs as many complaints are received that are not violations. Our CC&Rs, as well as contact information can be found on our website at http://www.stallionspringscsd.com.

Parks and Recreation

Summer gym hours begin June 7. The gym is free of charge for youth and adults Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. It's a fun place to hang out and join in on activities, such as volleyball, basketball and other pickup games. Pickleball co-ed games are Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

The field staff has been getting the pool ready to open on June 8, subject to weather. There are still two lifeguard positions open for the summer. A snack bar will be open for snacks and to buy pool passes during open gym hours Monday-Friday. Credit cards will be accepted for pool passes at the CSD office.

Free yoga has been extended to every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a limited time.

Fire Safety

In an effort to prevent wildfires in the community, the CSD is actively involved in notifying residents in the lower and more densely populated areas of Stallion Springs to either mow their lot or have the District mow their lot. The contractor for the District should begin mowing around June 10, subject to weather. In addition, the CSD will be assisting the Fire Department in contacting property owners in the upper portion of Stallion by the end of June so everyone has defensible space in place.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board Room.

The CSD has three lots approved by the board for surplus sale. To bid on the lots contact David Aranda at the CSD.
