It's raining, it's poring and even the elk are trying to keep a bit dry. Deer and elk visiting our yards has been limited during the heavy rains we have been getting. Their trips to the lower elevations for water or some of that tall grass for lunch are not quite needed as the rain has created puddles for water and tall grass further up the slopes.

Police Report

Police Chief Gary Crowell filed a report of statistics for April 2019. The Department had three arrests, issued three citations, had 55 reports, 70 calls for service, did 28 want and warrant checks, completed 56 officer initiated investigations, 10 field interviews, and did four medical assists. There were 22 vacation house checks and 20 school bus stop checks. Additionally, the Department assisted other law enforcement agencies seven times.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation is looking for a new aid due to the previous aid moving out of state. If interested contact Vanessa at the CSD.

The field staff has been getting the pool ready to open on June 8, subject to weather. There are still two lifeguard positions open for the summer. A snack bar will be open for snacks and to buy pool passes during open gym hours Monday through Friday. Credit cards will be accepted for pool passes at the CSD office.

Free yoga has been extended to every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a limited time.

Fire Safety

In an effort to prevent wildfires in the community the CSD is actively involved in notifying residents in the lower and more densely populated areas of Stallion Springs to either mow their lot or have the District mow their lot. The contractor for the District should begin mowing around June 10, subject to weather. In addition the CSD will be assisting the Fire Department in contacting property owners in the upper portion of Stallion by the end of June so that everyone has defensible space in place.

Stallion Springs Library

The Stallion Springs Library is looking for a few volunteers to work two to four hours a month. Please contact Emma Holm at mholm16@yahoo.com or call (719) 640-2220 if you are interested. The shifts are from 10 a.m. to noon and noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

The Children's story hour has changed from the first Thursday of the month to the second Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. Come join in on the fun.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board Room.
