May the Fourth be with you

Tehachapi Branch Library

April 27, 2019

Is coming to a library near you. That's right, Star Wars Day is coming to the Tehachapi Library on May the Fourth. (Get it? May the Fourth, May the Force...) And we're all invited to visit several of the worlds of that galaxy.

Attendees from the youngest padawans to venerable Jedi Masters like Yoda will find themselves traveling between planets like Tatooine, Dagobah and Hoth. They will be able to visit the Death Star and the Forest Moon of Endor. And at each location there will be activities to participate in. With activities appropriate for travelers of all ages.

There will be snacks at the Cantina in the courtyard with Jedi training also taking place there. But keep an eye out for Bounty Hunters and Storm Troopers looking for Droids. Be careful about the Hutt slime. Gather together a team and compete to see how many beings you can stuff inside a Tauntaun (#lukewarm). If you think you might fit in better on the side of the Empire, you could test to see if your shooting skills could help you become a Storm Trooper.

The free event starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m., with a costume contest at 3 p.m. If this event is anything like the recent Harry Potter event, it will attract a couple hundred Star Wars enthusiasts. So come out and explore a galaxy at the library.

Star Wars Day is funded with support from the Tehachapi Friends of the Library.
