Triassic wins again at the 'Super Bowl of wine competitions'

Jim and Sally Arnold, owners of Triassic Vineyards, proudly announced that Triassic was again a winner at the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Triassic had submitted seven wines to the competition and all seven brought home awards, including a Double Gold for the 2015 Zinfandel.
"This is like the Super Bowl of wine competitions," said Jim Arnold.
Nearly 7,000 entries from 35 states were submitted to the competition in December. During the first week of January, 60 prestigious judges made their choices. The wines are always categorized by variety and retail price. Triassic's 2019 awards are:
• 2015 Zinfandel, Double Gold, Zinfandel $38-$41
• 2015 Syrah, Gold, Syrah $37-$40.
• 2016 Viogner, Silver, Viogner $25 and over.
• 2017 Viogner, Silver, Viogner $25 and over.
• 2015 Big Bang, Silver, Red blend - Zinfandel leading $25 and over.
• 2015 Triassic Rocks, Bronze, Red blend - Syrah leading $25 and over,
• 2017 Viogner Lot #2, Bronze, Viogner $25 and over.
Arnold said that although Stray Leaves and Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company have entered and won in past years, Triassic was the only Tehachapi vineyard to submit wines this year.
The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition started in 1983 as the Cloverdale Citrus Fair Wine Competition. The San Francisco Chronicle joined in 2000 with a title-naming sponsorship. By 2006 it had grown to 3,318 entries from 900 wineries and continues to grow annually.
Triassic has won awards at the SFCWC every year since 2013 when they made their first submissions. That year the 2012 Zinfandel also won a Double Gold. Arnold said that in March of this year Triassic will be releasing three new wines: a Tempranillo, the 2016 Zinfandel and 2016 Syrah. So stay tuned.
