The Mojave River Academy Tehachapi Resource Center is excited to welcome two new additions to its teaching staff this year in Tiffani Lewis and Wendy Graffam.

Lewis brings 13 years of teaching experience to MRA Tehachapi, located at 20948 Sage Lane, and most recently taught small reading intervention groups at the Bakersfield City School District.

Wanting to be closer to the family business, Tehachapi Floor Covering, she moved to Tehachapi a year ago and began looking for a job that would help her, "be an asset to the community."

"MRA is different due to the focus and priority on the one-on-one student meetings each week," Lewis said. "Also, the non-traditional office-type setting is very unique.

"I also like the interaction I'm able to have with each of my students and the ability to focus on their individual needs and learning styles," she said.

Graffam, who has taught everything from first graders to general education at San Joaquin Valley College, most recently worked for the Palmdale School District before coming to MRA Tehachapi because she was looking for, "a place where I could make a difference."

"MRA caters to the students' individual needs and provides a safe learning environment," Graffam said. "It feels more like a family here. The students are great and I feel that I am able to really help the students achieve their goals."

Mojave River Academy is a free, public charter school that offers education for TK-12th grade – but in a way that works best for our students and families. Whatever the reason may be for a student to walk through our doors, we do whatever it takes to help that student accomplish their goals. Having the ability to work with each student one-on-one allows for personalized instruction to teach them in a way that works for them, as well as the ability to really get to know them.

We support our students further with our tutoring staff and access to school resources. We truly are here to help our students be successful. We offer a strong, positive school environment with opportunities, activities and events to enrich the students socially and emotionally, and ways to take learning above and beyond!
