In Tehachapi, the Menorah lighting was publicly celebrated in front of downtown Tehachapi business Moses Carpet, owned by Moshe "Moses" Mizrache.

Rabbi Schmuli Schlanger from Bakersfield led the lighting celebration with songs, prayers and rye wit. The event concluded with the traditional sharing of Jewish treats such as Latkes (potato pancakes) and Sufganiyah (custard-filled doughnuts topped with powdered sugar).
