The City of Tehachapi was honored on Sept. 27 with an engineering award from the American Society of Civil Engineers for the Tehachapi Boulevard Bike Path Project.

"The City of Tehachapi is honored to receive an award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for the Tehachapi Boulevard Bike Path Project. We received this award in the category of 'Outstanding Bikeways & Trailways.' It is no surprise to me that Tehachapi is being recognized for our quality of life. Years of hard work and positive leadership from the Tehachapi City Council have allowed moments like this to be possible. Thank you to the American Society of Civil Engineers," said Jay Schlosser, Development Services Director.

The Tehachapi Boulevard Bike Path Project cost 1.1 million dollars and was completed in approximately eight months. The bike path runs on the north side of E. Tehachapi Blvd. between Hayes Street and Steuber Road. The project was funded by the Transportation Development Act.
