The Tehachapi Lions Club was pleased to honor two outstanding young men during their Student of the Month dinner meeting on Jan. 18.

Brock Moore was selected by the staff at Monroe High School. Brock recently enrolled at Monroe High School for his senior year. He has experienced a rather rough road lately in his life, however, he is very focused and is working diligently towards receiving his high school diploma at Monroe. He is a very polite and respectful young man. He is determined to turn his life around in a positive direction and shows the commitment to make his dreams after high school happen.

Nick Voshall was chosen by the staff at Jacobsen Middle School. Nick has really brought up his grades this quarter and is showing outstanding effort. Nick also helps out in the cafeteria cleaning up after 6th grade lunch almost every day. One of Nick's teachers stated that he is an outstanding young man. He is kind, respectful, and well mannered. Nick struggled with school the 1st quarter as many 6th graders do with the transition to middle school, however, Nick made a decision to improve 2nd quarter and put his plan into action. He has not had a single missing assignment and he brought up all of his grades. He has shown great maturity and responsibility. His determination and tenacity has paid off. He is a shining example of what a student can do when they make up their mind.

The Lions thoroughly enjoyed meeting these young men and their families and are excited about the promising futures they both have. Visit the Tehachapi Lions Club on Facebook or at their website: e-clubhouse.org/sites/tehachapi. The Lions meet the first and third Thursday of every month at the Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER, 500 E. F Street, at 6:30 p.m.
