Tehachapi's Freedom Plaza earns Statewide recognition

Tehachapi's Freedom Plaza and Visitor Center, already recipient of three regional awards by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Council for Engineering Companies, will now be recognized with another award at the State level.

Freedom Plaza has earned the distinction of 'Small Project of the Year' for ASCE's Region 9 which covers the State of California. With the ASCE Region 9 award, Freedom Plaza is now in consideration for 'Best Small Project' for the entire national organization.

Previous accolades for Freedom Plaza from ASCE include 'Best Small Project' for the San Joaquin Branch, and for the Los Angeles Region as well as a 2018 'Engineering Excellence Commendation' under the small project category by ACEC.

Freedom Plaza opened in 2016 and features the Tehachapi Visitor Center which is staffed by volunteers, as well as the monuments for all five branches of the armed forces. It is located on the corner of Tehachapi Boulevard and Curry Street.
