Lions Christmas for seniors

Lions Club of Tehachapi

Christmas for Seniors recipient Sherry and project chairman Suzanne Williams.

The Tehachapi Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to offer a public, heartfelt thank you to all of the supporters of their recent Apple Drop Fundraiser. Due to your generous support, the Lions were able to provide Christmas to 40 low-income or homebound senior citizens in our community. The Lions purchased "Wish List" items for the seniors and their pets with funds raised from Apple Drop ticket sales. The seniors also received a gift bag of sundry items that many seniors do without, which were generously donated by the members of our community, a poinsettia, a bottle of sparkling cider from Jerry and Judy Seville, large print books and quilted soup bowl holders.

A big thank you goes out to The Loop, The Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce and Wood's Funeral Home for allowing their businesses to be the drop-off locations for the donated sundry items again this year. We would also like to thank Kmart for providing a discount to our volunteer shoppers when purchasing senior wish list items.

Once again, thank you Tehachapi! We are so fortunate and blessed to live in such a caring and compassionate community. To find out more about the Tehachapi Lions Club, visit their Facebook page and/or their website: e-clubhouse.org/sites/tehachapi/. The Lions meet the first and third Thursday of every month at the Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER at 6:30 p.m. Feel free to join them.
