Tehachapi BMX riders at Metro Meet

#32 Alex Howard, #60 Kayden Gonzales, #983 Gabriel Griffiths.

Tehachapi was well represented at the Bakersfield Metro BMX, "Northern Calif. Vs Southern Calif" race on August 20. With over 200 BMX riders from throughout California, this was one of the biggest races Metro has had on their newly designed and improved track. Local 8-year-old racer Alex Howard competed in the 8 and under Intermediate Division and finished with a 1st place license plate award. Alex is tied for first place in points and will be traveling to Perris, Ca. for the State Championships.

Kayden Gonzales and Gabriel Griffiths both competed in the 8 and under Novice Division. Gabriel is showing great improvements in his racing skills but was not able to qualify for the main race with Kayden. Kayden misjudged the starting cadence and flipped over the gate with a graceful crash and took the 3rd place spot. Anther local racer, Sydney Howard competed in the 14 and under Intermediate Girl's Division, giving great effort but didn't make it to the mains. Nate Howard (Alex and Sydney's Dad) showed great skills moving up a division and placing 3rd in the 41-45 Intermediate Division. Bakersfield Metro will be hosting the Fall Nationals Sept. 15-17 with thousands of racers competing for trophies and points. For more Information on BMX racing see the Metro BMX Facebook page.
