What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Board VP and Golf Committee Chair Vince McLaughlin responds to questions about the status of the golf course from the overflow crowd of residents.

The Stallion Springs Community Services District hosted a Town Hall Meeting regarding the future of the Horsethief Country Club & Golf Course on Wednesday Aug. 9 to provide available current information and possible future plans for the course. General Manager Jon Curry said he had met with the county EDC and CSUB to define parameters for a report on the economic impact the course has on the area. He has also contacted the National Golf Foundation to get a scope and fee report for an evaluation of the course.

Vince McLaughlin, Vice President of the Board of Directors and Golf Course Committee Chair for the Golf Course reviewed some of the issues involved and responded to what questions could be answered. Vince with Assistant Chair Sandy Young requested anyone who could help on the committee or had some specific skills signup on sheets provided so they could be contacted as required. Several residents will be asked to join the committee. The committee will provide regular reports to the residents.

A standing room only crowd of over 180 people attended the meeting.

Oktoberfest plans finalized

Oktoberfest is coming in October. After several proposed changes in the date for Oktoberfest a final date has been set, Oct. 14, at the Community Center from Noon to 6 p.m.

Last year was a rousing success with attendance up considerably over previous years with beer flowing generously and lines waiting for bratwurst. Over 3,500 people attended over the course of 6 hours. Vendors reported great sales and kids had fun at activities that were planned just for them at the playground. Inside the crowded Community Center vendors were busy selling their wares. An even larger crowd is expected than last year. SSCERT will assist with parking and other assignments from the SSPD.
