Kiwanis applauds Child Care Program

Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi

Eve Geisler invited Rev. Ken Burton to speak to Kiwanis about the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Pre-school Program.

Improving the lives of children is a goal of Kiwanis so it was appropriate that Rev. Ken Burton, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, was invited to speak to the group about the church's preschool. The school was one of the reasons he accepted the call to come to Tehachapi about a year ago. He was impressed with the goals of the school and the dedication of the congregation to maintain it.

Although the school is Christian centered, all children of any faith between the ages of six weeks and pre-kindergarten are welcome to attend. The majority of those enrolled in the school are not part of the church family.

The school operates year round and is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. The cost to attend varies according to age and the number of attendance days. The fees do not entirely cover costs, but the congregation covers any short fall.

Rev. Burton feels it is important that children have the opportunity to develop their full potential spiritually, academically, physically, socially and creatively. He praised Kristine Arnecke, director, and the staff for their dedication to providing an outstanding program for children.

The Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi is an organization dedicated to serving the children of the world, one child at a time. The club meets every Wednesday noon at the Police Station Community Room, 220 W. C St. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. Please call (661) 822-5379 for further information.
