Tehachapi High School student, Grant Cowan, is seen receiving a check for $100 as Second Place Winner in the American Legion Auxiliary Department of California Americanism Essay Competition. Presenting him with the prize is Steve Hansen, who teaches the Advanced English Class 9 at Tehachapi High from whose class the essay was written. Grant had already won two prizes with his inspiring work in the Local and District Competitions. Americanism Chairman, Pat Gracey, looks on.
