Workshop to teach filmmaking to Christian Youth

Some attendees to a Christian Youth Film Camp set up a scene to one of the films they shot using film technology they learned to use there.

Hey, kids, do you want to make movies? If you do, this is for you. The Christian Youth film Workshop is coming to Tehachapi on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Country Oaks Baptist Church and is open to all middle and high school students. Utilizing Hollywood professionals, this workshop teaches students filmmaking skills like Film Direction, Acting, Editing, Sound, Lighting, Special Effects, and Cinematography and does it at a very low tuition fee of just $29 (with the 2nd child in the family getting $10 off) for the full day. Each student will be able to choose three workshops to attend as well as hear general subjects taught in an assembly.

Workshops are a time tested method and opportunity to gain information and learn skills quickly. Students will learn how to direct a scene so that it has both dramatic meaning and impact, set lighting, set up shots, and explore the differences between movie acting and stage acting.  Typical challenges for student directors will be discussed such as how to use smart phones and other more easily accessible resources to produce high quality work. We're already familiar with this work having seen it everywhere from vacation films to the evening news.  With these examples readily available, many teenagers are already making movies and having a lot of fun doing it. It gives them the opportunity to be creative while learning how to conquer technical challenges on their way to producing high quality films.  The one day workshop is a great way to either get started or improve student filmmaker skills.

Film is the most influential medium. A healthy Christian world view needs to be encouraged, supported and explored on the big screen. This viewpoint maintains that good is important, that love, forgiveness, and joy are worthy pursuits and make a huge difference in one's life. This workshop is founded on those principals and wants to equip those who want to develop the knowledge of making films with a Judeo-Christian world view that will support the production of inspirationally dynamic works.  Sign your middle or high schooler up for this class today at www.christianyouthfilmfestival.org . If your child needs a scholarship or if you have questions email billkritlow@gmail.com.

Again, these topics will be taught by those who know the subjects best-Hollywood professionals who have real-life practical experience and can share their wealth of knowledge with Tehachapi student filmmakers.
