Depot Railroad Museum gets an interactive display

Alex Wood designed, built and assembled a simulator of The Tehachapi Loop as part of his Eagle Scout Project.

Alex Wood is nearing his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. As a result, The Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum is benefitting by having an interactive display set up in the baggage room of the Depot.

As an Eagle Scout "capstone" project that benefits the community, Alex has planned, designed, fund raised, built and assembled a simulator that will enable guests of the depot to have a hands-on opportunity to drive a train through the Tehachapi Loop, of course via a simulator!

We are thankful that Alex chose us for his project, as the simulator will be a nice addition to the displays that are available to our museum guests. Past feedback from visitors have routinely mentioned that the museum was nicely appointed, but yet they often added that it needed something to DO! Well, thanks to Alex we will now have that request fulfilled.

We will also be adding a donated flat screen monitor in the northwest corner of the freight room to support a 'safety corner' where we can show videos about rail safety and other railroad topics. All of these additions will give our visitors a reason to come back by the depot to check out what is being added to the museum experience.
