Quilt raffle for Pearls of Africa

The Global Missions Team from the Community Congregational Church (100 E. "E" Street) is sponsoring a raffle to support one of their causes, the Pearls of Africa Children's Home in Uganda. The Home provides loving care, education, and life skills for 29 children of all ages, displaced from their families by civil war, HIV/AIDS, and extreme poverty. Lynne Bauer, local quilt artist and friend of good causes, has generously donated one of her creations (see photo,) which will be given away on April 30. The quilt, Garden Baskets, is valued at $300 (which doesn't include Lynne's countless hours of her labor of love), and will be on display each Sunday at the church.

Tickets are 1/$5 or 5/$20 and can be purchased Sundays through April 30 in Friendship Hall from 11:30 to noon. Please call Jan at (661) 599-6125 for more info. At noon, on Sunday April 30, join us for a lavish "make it yourself" ice cream sundae party, followed by the quilt drawing. You don't need to attend to win, but we hope you do. And we can all agree--helping kids is always a win!
