The Loop's Local Scene

The two hour class began on time. The first step was to paint the background.

Start with a great no-pressure teacher, a fresh set of brushes and acrylic paints and add a good glass of locally produced Tehachapi wine and you have an afternoon of Brush and Blush art taught by Mary DeVries.

This class was hosted Saturday, March 18 at the popular Souza Family Winery in Cummings Valley.

Students see their creations come to life.

Twenty-six student artists comprised the sellout crowd. Held in the tasting room's large, comfortable dining room, wine was served by tasting room hostesses as students learned to paint a blooming cherry tree.

Student artist and wine sampler Rhonda Acord of Tehachapi said, "I like to come to these venues and paint because it's fun, very relaxing, and what the heck, the more wine the better your painterly mistakes look".

The next Brush and Blush event at the Souza Tasting Room and Winery will be on April 22. The painting theme will be "Cowboy Boots" and will be taught by Mary DeVries. For more information email info@bbeaselevents.com or call (661) 747-4243.
